Learn about ways to find your Sporting Ancestors
Our 2018 April speaker is Shauna Hicks talking on Sporting Ancestors. This is a most interesting talk. You might not think you have sporting ancestors however with all the tips and tricks Shauna shares, if they are out there, you will find them.
Shauna Hicks
Shauna Hicks has been tracing her own family history since 1977 and worked in government for over 35 years in libraries and archives in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne. Since retiring, she has written a number of family history guides. Shauna is a regular speaker at genealogy cruises, conferences and seminars. She now operates her own business at www.shaunahicks.com.au. Plus finds time to write a blog, Diary of an Australian Genealogist.
She is a Fellow of the Queensland Family History Society and a recipient of the Australian Society of Archivists Distinguished Achievement Award. At the Canberra Congress she was awarded the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations’ Services to Family History Award.
Qualifications: MA (Australian Studies), Grad Dip Lib Sc, Dip FHS from Society of Australian Genealogists
