Caloundra Family History has a talk and general meeting for the months of January to November. It is held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

The meeting is held in the rooms and via Zoom.

Dr Jon Prangnell The June General Meeting presentation will be with Dr Jon Prangnell Deputy Head of School & Chief Examiner, Reader in Archaeology, Director of Teaching & Learning, and Associate Professor at the School of Social Science, University of Queensland.  He is a published author of books, Journal articles, Technical Reports, Generic Documents, Research Reports and Conference Papers.

He gave his first presentation to CFHRI at the General Meeting held in June 2009 and by invitation, has presented each year since, in person, except for the Covid-19 lockdown year of 2020 when guest speakers were forced onto Zoom.  Whilst archaeology is his priority and genealogy/local history/social history is always high on the list of a family historian, his topics have been varied and encompassed the knowledge we need to round out the lives of the ancestors we research.

Topic: Excavations at the Ayr Pioneer Sugar Mill: part of the UQ South Sea Islander Project.
