Caloundra Family History was proud to have member Shauna Hicks as an official RootsTech Influencer and Speaker for two sessions. “Mining Ancestors Down Under” explores tracing gold mining ancestors in Australia. It looks at archives, libraries and digitised newspapers and demonstrates the type of information that can be found on mining ancestors.
Shauna’s other session is “Tips & Tricks for Researching National Archives of Australia“. This session demonstrates how to search effectively in RecordSearch, the online catalogue of the National Archives of Australia. It also shows a variety of finding aids that highlight resources for family history research in the Archives.

Along with Shauna, another member, Fran Kitto AKA TravelGenee was also a RootsTech Influencers. Fran has been an Ambassador for many RootsTech conferences at Salt Lake City, London and for virtual conferences.
