Do you have a convict in your family tree?
A training session on some of the social reasons behind transportation and the various resources available to research convicts.
This training session will look at the different resources that are available to research convict records, including trial, transportation, surgeon, and assignment records. Among other topics we will examine the Female Factories, what happened to the children of convicts who accompanied their mothers, permission to marry and what happened after their time was served.
This training session is an overview of the available resources for convict transportation system records.
Please Note: For assistance with individual convicts please attend the relevant Interest Group e.g., England or Wales Interest Group or Ireland Interest Group.
