For the General Meeting on Thursday 16 September 2021, the guest speaker will be retired Police Officer, Rod Shelton whose topic will be “Identity Fraud & Scams”.

Rod Shelton retired from the Queensland Police Service in 2012 after 18 years of service. Prior to that he had been a teacher for 17 years and is a very experienced investigator, educator, and facilitator. He served in the drug squad, the child abuse unit and spent 10 years in the fraud squad as a detective where he specialised in fraud prevention and the training of external agencies in fraud detection and investigative and forensic interviewing.

Rod is now an independent consultant and facilitator of investigative interviewing, has provided training to the Australian Federal Police, and investigators from all levels of government and private organisations.

Rod developed presentations on identity fraud and scams and delivered these presentations to numerous community groups to educate people and prevent them from becoming victims. In 2018, Rod was a guest lecturer on two cruises for the Princess Cruise Line. He delivered eight presentations to guests on the ships and these presentations included identity theft, scam, and Australian history.

Rod’s other interests include golf and, until recently, international travel.
