Hello Members,
As you know our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday (19 March) with our guest speaker Matthew Wengert on the topic “When Spanish Flu came to Queensland”.
This topic is not only very topical but extremely interesting in view of the Covid 19 virus now spreading around the world.
The situation with this virus is changing by the day and after a lot of thought, we have decided to cancel the general meeting on Thursday.
The government has been advising a practice of “social distancing” for some days now, and with tighter restrictions coming into place tonight, we felt that it would be extremely unwise to go ahead with the meeting where a lot of people would be in close proximity.
It is so disappointing, but hopefully, when this has passed, we can invite Matthew back to Caloundra to give us that talk!
We are looking at all our operations and will advise members of any other changes. As you all know the situation is developing and changing by the day, sometimes even faster than that, but the health and safety of our members is our primary concern.
