Why should you join the Writing Interest Group?
Our Writing Interest Group is held at the rooms on the third Thursday of the Month from 9:30am – 11:30am. The aim of this group is to improve our writing skills by learning or revising various writing techniques in order to:
- Tell your ancestors’ stories in an interesting manner that isn’t just a series of facts.
- Enter our open writing competition Lorrie Barzdo Writers Award: Writing Family History or our novice writing competition, the Hazel Rose Seto Award. All entries are published in the Clipper. There is something satisfying to see your work published and winning a cash prize if your work wins either award.
Participants share a story or two each month. It is interesting to hear each other’s work and how they put into words what had been discussed at a previous meeting. We also delve into the techniques other published family history authors use when writing their stories.
Member’s please contact Trisha Hyde, CFH Training Officer, if you would like more information.
