Many people say that the key to a person’s future is understanding their past. All of us have unique family histories, where our predecessors may have impacted or been impacted through their own enterprises, living conditions and the events of their times.
On October 28 and 29, 2022, the Caloundra Family History Research group is offering a day-and-a-half course: An Introduction to Family History Research for Seniors. These training sessions break down the daunting task of where to begin into manageable bite-sized pieces. This course is part of the Council for the Ageing (COTA) Seniors Month theme, “Social Connections.”
Day One starts with registration at 8:30 am and will explore the type of information you may need. It might be oral history, stories from the past, hard copies or other records.
We delve into the types of digital records that are available in genealogy programs, various archives, libraries, newspapers, military records and an overview of the resources that our group offers in its rooms.
Day Two starts with registration at 12:30 pm. We will break into two groups. Each group will have a chance to explore their family history on our computers and view short videos.
Both days conclude at 3:30 pm.
Cost: $20 includes lunch on Day One, refreshments on both days and Training notes.
